Wax and Acrylic Sculpture

Date

September 2015

Location

Toronto

This wax sculpture combines material exploration with a critique of a society that chooses not to see. White shells encasing dark brown, burnt-out light bulbs evoke eyeballs gathered within a collective body, representing society as a group. Enclosed in a transparent box that allows light to pass through, these extinguished eyes remain unresponsive to the light surrounding them. The work reflects on the paradox of visibility without perception, questioning a collective refusal to acknowledge what lies before us, even when the truth is within reach.
